MEME

The term "meme" was coined by Richard Dawkins in his book "The Selfish Gene." Memes spread between individuals within a culture through imitation and often carry symbolic meaning representing specific phenomena or themes. They serve as units that carry cultural ideas, symbols, or practices and can be transmitted from one person's mind to another through words, art, gestures, reports, or other imitable phenomena with mimicking themes.

If genes are the self-replicating units of life, then memes are the self-replicating units of thought. This makes me feel like we live in a world of replicas, both physically and mentally.

If we are all replicas, why do I feel disconnected from others?
If we are unique individuals, why do we keep replicating over and over again?

So my question is: In a world of replicas, does our existence have meaning?
